Praying to God with our own words, and from our heart is a beautiful, necassary, and should be much encouraged. Along with spontaneous prayer, the rich tradition of our Church gives us what are known as "common prayers." These are composed prayers that are given to us by the Church for several reasons - to help us to pray when we can't find the words; to encourage us in united prayer as the Body of Christ; and to help us praise God through the teachings of the Church, and often through His own words to us from Scripture. They also help us invoke the intercession of the Saints. Several of these prayers are below, and to the left you will find a link to the prayer page of EWTN, which will give you many more traditional prayers.
The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary:
Behold the handmaid of the Lord: Be it done unto me according to Thy word.
And the Word was made Flesh: And dwelt among us.
Amen.

Angel of God,
my guardian dear,
To whom God's love
commits me here,
Ever this day,
be at my side,
To light and guard,
Rule and guide.
Amen.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen..
Most sweet Jesus, humbly kneeling at Thy feet, we renew the consecration of our family to Thy Divine Heart. Be Thou our King forever! In Thee we have full and entire confidence. May Thy spirit penetrate our thoughts, our desires, our words and our deeds. Bless our undertakings, share in our joys, in our trials, and in our labors. Grant us to know Thee better, to love Thee more, to serve Thee without faltering.
Christ Jesus, Head of the Body, the Church, You so loved the world You gave your life to redeem us and restored us to Your friendship.
Give us, we pray, the grace we need to speak lovingly and confidently a word of invitation to inactive Catholics to return to the practice of their faith.
Make us instruments of Your welcome and peace. Bring back to the fold all who have been hardened by the world or wounded by members of the Church. May they know the joy of reconciliation with You and join us once more at the altar table of the Lord.
Use us as messengers of your love to reach out to inactive Catholics, to marginalized Catholics, and to anyone searching for a faith community they can call “Home.” Grace Your Church with new members strong in the practice of their faith and in their devotion to the Eucharist.
Help us grow in love for one another and for the Most Holy Name of Jesus in whose Name we offer this prayer. Amen.
